The Etobicoke Humane Society’s shelter cats are now napping in style, thanks to a purr-fect donation from IKEA Canada.
The Swedish furniture retailer gifted the Toronto-based animal shelter 10 Duktig doll beds—a product famously repurposed by cat owners worldwide. The miniature wooden beds provide a cozy upgrade from the shelter’s hard, easy-to-clean floors.
“A huge thanks to IKEA Canada’s Etobicoke location for donating these adorable doll beds,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “Now cats like Catsby and Frankie have beds of their own to curl up in.”
A YouTube video from the shelter shows volunteers assembling the Duktig beds while curious cats inspect their new sleeping spots. IKEA also contributed monetary support to aid the nonprofit’s efforts.
“The volunteers and animals thank you,” the post added. “Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”
The Duktig bed, originally designed for dolls, has become a cult favorite among pet owners for its ideal feline dimensions and minimalist Scandinavian design. For shelter cats awaiting forever homes, the donation offers both comfort and a touch of whimsy.
