Hilary Duff has expanded her family in the most adorable way. The Younger star, 37, announced on Instagram that she and husband Matthew Koma, 37, have adopted a rescue kitten named Jinkx Pawnsoon.
Duff shared the news by reposting Koma’s Instagram Stories, which featured a photo of the couple’s newest furry addition—a wide-eyed kitten with tufted ears.
“This little girl was rescued from a parking lot the night the Eaton Fire started,” Koma wrote. “Thank you @lifelinecats for letting us be her new home.”
Duff added, “Moon got a friend!”—referencing the family’s other cat, adopted last year.
From Parking Lot to Forever Home
The kitten was rescued by Feline Lifeline, a Pasadena-based nonprofit, which shared details of her journey in a January 16 Instagram post. According to the organization, Jinkx—named after drag queen and Broadway star Jinkx Monsoon—was found in a Trader Joe’s parking lot as winds from the Los Angeles wildfires intensified.
“Friendly and affectionate, she came running out of the nearby brush when the feeder arrived, essentially begging for rescue,” the post read.
Before her adoption, Jinkx received vaccinations, microchipping, flea treatment, deworming, and testing for FIV/FeLV. On January 29, Feline Lifeline confirmed her happy ending:
“UPDATE: Jinkx has been adopted! Jinkxy girl, have the best life with @hilaryduff and @matthewkoma.”
A Family with a Big Heart
This isn’t the first time Duff and Koma have opened their home to those in need. During the L.A. wildfires, they provided shelter for members of Mandy Moore’s family, who were displaced by the disaster.
Moore’s brother-in-law, musician Griffin Goldsmith, expressed gratitude on Instagram, writing: “They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began. I will never be able to thank them adequately.”
Duff and Koma, who share three children together, continue to show their love for animals and their community—one paw (and person) at a time.
