A cat owner from Pennsylvania has captured a hilarious moment of her feline asking for a bite of her food in a very “subtle” way. The viral TikTok video shows Ziggy, the cat, tilting her head and making gentle “air chomping” motions while her owner eats breakfast.
The clip, posted in March by user @jamesbaxter666, quickly gained attention with over 2.9 million views and 785,000 likes. The owner wrote, “She’s so subtle about wanting my breakfast sandwich,” with the caption reading, “Air chomps. Very subtle. Very demure.”
After many viewers asked for an update, the owner shared a follow-up video where Ziggy gets a small taste of the egg-and-sausage sandwich. However, the cat did not seem to enjoy it much.
Before sharing human food with pets, owners should be cautious. According to veterinarian site Vets Now, many human foods can be harmful to cats. These include alcohol, chocolate, caffeine, cheese, raw eggs and meat, grapes and raisins, onions, garlic, and xylitol.
On the other hand, some safe foods for cats include cooked, unseasoned chicken, turkey, beef, fish, eggs, and certain cooked vegetables like pumpkin, broccoli, peas, carrots, spinach, and green beans, according to Sploot Vets.
Cats usually need at least two meals per day, but smaller, more frequent feedings can be better. How much a cat should eat depends on its breed, age, and activity level.
The video’s comment section is full of amused viewers. One user, Kt, joked, “This is how I would eat breakfast sandwich … if I had breakfast sandwich.” Bianca added, “She was literally picturing what it would taste like, give that baby a small little bit she’s just a baby.” Another user, Suddszy, wrote, “What a polite baby my cat would’ve snatched it off my plate.”
