Last month, a woman noticed a community cat moving her kittens across her backyard—only to later discover one tiny tabby had been left behind. Hoping the mother would return, the woman kept watch overnight, but when the cat never reappeared, she contacted Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue for help.
The kitten, named Cougar, was small but fiercely spirited. “He was in fairly good condition and took right to the bottle—we knew he had a fighting chance,” said Sarah Kelly, founder of the rescue, in an interview with Love Meow.
From Fragile to Feisty
At first, Cougar relied on round-the-clock bottle feedings, snuggled securely in a warm “purrito” towel. But as he gained strength, his bold personality emerged. Though wobbly, he practiced standing, then walking—steadying himself with his tail and chirping at his foster mom with each determined step.
“He’s always had a bright, loving personality,” Kelly remarked. Curious and adventurous, Cougar explored every soft surface, from cat beds to human blankets, before collapsing for naps between meals.
A Tiny Diva in Training
Now thriving, Cougar boasts a round belly, a penchant for mealtime, and an impressive repertoire of kitten skills. He’s mastered the litter box, sampled solid food, and perfected the “kitten eyes” tactic to charm his caregivers.
His foster home’s resident pets—including cats and a gentle Great Dane—have become his playful companions. “He runs around like he owns the place, despite being the smallest,” Kelly laughed.
Ready for the Spotlight
Cougar’s journey from a lone backyard kitten to a confident, scampering troublemaker proves his warrior spirit. With his love for attention and relentless energy, he’s now preparing for his next big milestone: finding a forever home.
