Last month, a compassionate woman noticed a community cat transporting her kittens across her backyard—only to later discover that one tiny feline had been left behind. Hoping the mother would return, she kept watch overnight, but despite her efforts, the cat never came back. Realizing the kitten needed help, she contacted Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue, setting the stage for an inspiring journey of survival and resilience.
A Tiny Warrior with a Big Personality
The kitten, named Cougar, was small but mighty—vocal, spirited, and full of determination.
“Right away, we had a good feeling about his odds because he was in fairly good condition and took right to the bottle,” said Sarah Kelly, founder of Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue, in an interview with Love Meow.
Wrapped snugly in a warm towel before each feeding, Cougar quickly adapted to round-the-clock bottle care. His healthy appetite helped him gain strength, and soon, his wobbly legs carried him on his first adventures.
Learning, Growing, and Conquering New Challenges
Once steady on his feet, Cougar fearlessly explored his surroundings, steadying himself with his tail and responding to his foster mom’s voice with happy chirps.
“He has always had a tremendously bright personality and is so loving,” Kelly shared.
As his ears developed, his curiosity grew. He adored his cat beds but particularly loved the human bed, padding across it with tiny paws before curling up for naps.
A Social Butterfly with a Playful Streak
Cougar’s confidence knew no bounds—despite his size, he befriended resident cats and even a Great Dane, strutting around the house like he owned it.
“He’s so outgoing… He’s such a happy little dude,” Kelly remarked.
With multiple meals a day, he developed an adorably round belly, which he proudly displayed after every feeding.
Mastering Kittenhood with Enthusiasm
In just weeks, Cougar hit key milestones—litter training, playing with toys, and even sampling solid food. He perfected the “kitten look” to charm his way into extra cuddles.
Now, whenever his foster mom enters the room, he dashes over with enthusiastic meows. His coordination improves daily, and he fearlessly plays with older pets, holding his own as if he were twice his size.
Though once abandoned, Cougar’s fighting spirit and loving nature have secured him a bright future—one where he’s not just surviving, but thriving.
