NEW YORK — A friendly stray tabby cat wandered into a New York City firehouse and refused to leave—until she found exactly what she was looking for: a second chance.
The cat, later named Marcella, first appeared at the FDNY station, meowing for attention and making herself at home. Firefighters and city employees quickly fell for her affectionate personality, offering food, water, and plenty of pets. She became a regular, lounging behind a pallet bar on an old office chair—her makeshift “throne.”
But as much as Marcella enjoyed the outdoor setup, her caregivers worried about her safety near busy streets. Determined to help, they reached out to Little Wanderers NYC, a local rescue organization.
From Firehouse to Foster Home
Volunteers swiftly arranged veterinary care, spayed Marcella, and placed her in a foster home. There, her true personality emerged.
“She’s blossomed into the most affectionate and playful girl,” the rescue shared. “She loves belly rubs, making biscuits on blankets, and even ‘talks’ back when you speak to her.”
No longer sleeping on concrete, Marcella now enjoys cozy rugs and being tucked into blankets. Her foster mom describes her as a perfect companion—well-behaved, litter-trained, and happiest curled up beside humans.
A Cat Made for Indoor Life
One of Marcella’s favorite pastimes? Watching TV. “She’s completely mesmerized by the screen,” her foster family laughed.
After her journey from stray to spoiled, Marcella is now ready for a forever home. “She’s here to bring endless love and purrs,” Little Wanderers NYC said.
