A cat owner from Tulsa, Oklahoma, shared a funny moment when her ragdoll cat tried to join her breakfast in bed, sparking laughter online.
The video, posted in February on TikTok by @cheddartheragdoll, shows Cheddar, the cat, attempting to snatch a sausage patty from his owner’s plate. She gently holds his head back to stop him.
The clip’s text reads, “When you have cats, there is no peace during breakfast in bed.” The caption adds, “I hope his birth mother knows he pushes my daily limits.”
Cats often want to eat from their owner’s plates, but many human foods can be harmful or even deadly to them. Dr. Beth Turner, in an article for Preventive Vet, lists toxic foods such as garlic, onions, chives, alcohol, chocolate, grapes, raisins, caffeine, raw meat, raw seafood, raw liver, bones, raw eggs, and avocados.
Cats should also avoid milk and dairy products because they are lactose intolerant. Canned tuna is risky too, due to possible mercury poisoning. Dog food is not suitable either, as it lacks proper nutrients and can cause weight gain.
If a cat accidentally eats something toxic, experts at the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals advise removing the source and calling a vet immediately for help.
