A pregnant rescue cat has captured the hearts of social media users after a video showed her watching her own ultrasound at the vet’s office.
The video, shared by @ittybittykittycatrescue on TikTok in early February, features the cat lying calmly on the examination table during her check-up. As the vet performs the ultrasound, the cat turns her head toward the screen, as if checking on her kittens.
“The cutest ultrasound you’ll ever see!” reads the on-screen text. The caption explains: “We rescued Eleven when she was VERY pregnant and she got her first ultrasound to make sure [she] was good and healthy.”
According to Lockwood Veterinary Group, feline pregnancy typically lasts about 65 days but can extend to 70 days without concern, as long as the mother shows no signs of distress or illness.
Pregnancy in cats becomes noticeable around the fourth week, when her belly begins to swell, her appetite increases, and her nipples enlarge.
The U.K. charity Cats Protection advises feeding pregnant cats high-quality food rich in nutrients, as they need extra support while preparing to care for their kittens. When the time comes, owners should provide a quiet, warm space where the cat can give birth. A simple setup, like a cardboard box with soft blankets, kept away from harsh lights and near her food, water, and litter box, can offer comfort and safety.
The heartwarming video has gained more than 583,000 views and 50,000 likes.
TikTok users were quick to express their admiration. One viewer, Laura, commented, “She’s so well behaved, I really think she knows what’s going on and is being such a good patient.” Another, Thee Miss T, wrote, “Awh the way she looked at the screen as if to say, ‘Look at my babies.’” Kamila Special K added, “It’s cute how they’re so trusting, they know you are helping.”
