A cat’s dramatic reaction during a vet visit has gone viral on TikTok, amusing viewers with his ability to growl and snack at the same time.
The video, posted by @spenser.with.an.s on March 5, has gained over 756,000 views. It features a cat named Abe, who expresses his displeasure at being at the vet while enjoying a Churu treat.
“This is Abe. Abe would like to end the vet visit, but lucky for her, he’s too busy eating his Churu,” reads the text overlaid on the clip.
In the video, Abe sits on a scale as he growls and eats from a Churu tube, which a staff member holds for him. Meanwhile, a veterinary worker continues the examination.
A 2021 study from the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association explains that aggression in cats during exams often stems from fear. Some cats are anxious even before their first vet visit, while others develop fear after a negative experience. These repeated stressors can lead to increased resistance and avoidance behavior.
TikTok users found Abe’s behavior both relatable and funny. One user joked, “He’s angry but will never pass up a nomnom,” while another commented, “He’s accepting the bribe but hasn’t forgotten the vet.”
Veterinary staff chimed in, too. A vet tech wrote, “We love food-motivated kitties and grumpy eating noises. We often call for help just to have someone dispense Churu during blood draws.”
The clip has become another example of how humor and compassion can shine through even the most chaotic vet visits.
