At the 2025 TOPS Pet Expo, Nestlé Purina unveiled the localized launch of its globally first hypoallergenic cat food series, Pro Plan LiveClear. Developed over a decade by Nestlé’s global research team, the formulas are optimized for China’s pet-keeping environment and produced end-to-end at Purina’s Tianjin facility. Studies show feeding the food for 21 consecutive days significantly reduces human allergic reactions, with stable desensitization effects after 100 days.
“Since entering China via cross-border e-commerce in 2022, Pro Plan LiveClear has gained trust for its allergy relief and feline safety,” said Chen Xiaodong, Head of Purina Petcare in Greater China. “The localized launch enhances R&D and production while expanding omnichannel access, enabling more families to enjoy worry-free companionship with their cats.”
The innovation uses IgY antibody technology—extracting natural antibodies from eggs to neutralize the Fel d 1 allergen in cat saliva. “Extensive testing confirms the technology is highly effective and completely safe for cats,” noted Dr. Ebenezer Satyaraj, lead researcher for LiveClear.
Scientific data shows a 47% average reduction in active Fel d 1 after 21 days, with stable results in 97% of cats after 100 days. The range includes kitten and adult formulas:
Kitten Formula: Contains 45 key nutrients (e.g., colostrum, prebiotics) to support digestion and immunity, exceeding AAFCO standards.
Adult Formula: Features Omega fatty acids and vitamins to protect digestion, immune barriers, and coat health.
Both are produced at Purina’s Tianjin plant with full-quality control, reflecting the brand’s commitment to science-backed nutrition and rigorous manufacturing. The localized products are now available through online and offline channels, aiming to help more households overcome allergy barriers and enjoy cat companionship.
