PHILADELPHIA, PA — A tuxedo cat named Ruby and her four kittens have been given a fresh start after being rescued by The Stray Cat Club, an all-volunteer feline rescue organization.
From Uncertainty to Safety
About a month ago, Ruby and her litter were found being given away by their previous owners, who could no longer care for them. Thanks to a quick-acting volunteer, the feline family was brought to safety.
“Ruby was underweight and exhausted from nursing her kittens, who had been fed improper adult cat food despite being too young to wean,” the rescue shared.
Road to Recovery
Upon arrival, Ruby’s foster caregivers provided her with a nourishing diet to restore her health and improve her milk supply. The kittens, meanwhile, received age-appropriate food and treatment for digestive issues.
Before long, Ruby began to regain strength—and her playful, affectionate personality emerged.
Office “Helpers” in Training
Now thriving, Ruby and her kittens have claimed their foster home’s office as their own. Instead of curling up in a cat bed, Ruby prefers perching between the monitor and keyboard while her kittens nurse nearby.
“She and her boys are the cutest productivity blockers,” the rescue joked. Though not yet a lap cat, Ruby frequently offers head rubs and purrs, showing her growing trust in humans.
Kittens Prepare for New Homes
The four lively kittens spend their days wrestling and exploring, often mimicking their mother by napping near the computer. All have since been matched with adoptive families.
As for Ruby, she’s ready to retire from motherhood and find a forever home where she can be spoiled as the center of attention.
“She’s done an amazing job raising her kittens,” the rescue said. “Now it’s her turn to relax and enjoy life.”
