Yolo County, CA — What began as a rescue mission for twin kittens turned into a heartwarming tale of feline friendship after a lonely ginger tabby joined their crew.
A Fragile Beginning
At just three weeks old, white kittens Button and Truffle were found abandoned outdoors, desperately needing round-the-clock care. Foster volunteer Angela took them in, bottle-feeding the pair and even tube-feeding Button when he refused to eat.
“Even when they were sick, they’d purr and meow for attention,” Angela told Love Meow. After days of sleepless nights, the twins rebounded—mastering litter-box skills and clinging to each other for comfort.
A Newcomer Enters the Scene
Just as Button and Truffle found their footing, Angela learned about Abraxos, a ginger tabby orphaned at three days old. Hand-reared by Yolo SPCA staff, the playful kitten craved companionship.
“Abraxos needed friends his age to teach him cat manners,” Angela said. She introduced him to the twins, but the first meeting was tense. “Hissing, puffed tails—the works,” she recalled.
From Foes to Family
Overnight, the dynamic shifted. By morning, the trio wrestled like lifelong pals. Abraxos groomed the twins’ faces, while Button became his mentor. “They matched each other’s energy perfectly,” Angela said.
Truffle, the smallest, preferred spectating, but naptime revealed their true bond: all three squeezed into a single box, a tangle of fur and contentment.
A Happy Ending
Now thriving, the kittens embody resilience. “They sleep curled up together—it’s what orphaned babies deserve,” Angela said. For Abraxos, the twins erased loneliness; for Button and Truffle, they gained a brother.
