A lighthearted moment between a delivery driver and a cat owner has gone viral, leaving the internet in stitches. Michaela Roxy Davies, known on TikTok as @michaeladavies12, shared a video of the funny exchange that took place right outside her front door.
In the video, captured by her Ring doorbell camera, Davies walks outside to receive a package. Her cat, Lily—affectionately called “Fat Lily”—follows her. The delivery driver, noticing Lily’s round shape, asks, “Is she pregnant?”
Davies wasn’t surprised. Speaking to Newsweek via TikTok, she explained, “She’s a big gal and always has been!”
Laughing, Davies responded that Lily wasn’t pregnant—she was just “really fat.” The two shared a laugh, which viewers loved. The video, posted last week, has racked up over 156,500 views and nearly 30,000 likes.
“He didn’t say anything else about Fat Lily afterwards, just took a picture of my parcel,” Davies added. “He was a lovely guy and found it funny.”
The clip ends with a close-up of Lily looking unimpressed, as if offended by the comment—what Davies jokingly referred to as “emotional damage.”
While Davies wasn’t bothered, TikTok users had plenty to say. “Not the delivery man fat-shaming your cat,” one user joked. Another wrote, “The pain in her eyes! Don’t worry girl, we’ve all been there.” A third added, “You leave her alone!”
Though the moment was all in good fun, the topic has a serious side. A 2023 report by PetMD revealed that around 61 percent of cats in the U.S. are overweight. While it’s hard to resist a begging cat, overfeeding can lead to serious health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, and a weakened immune system. Obesity can also shorten a cat’s life.
Some breeds are more prone to weight gain. These include Persians, Manx, British and American Shorthairs, Exotic Shorthairs, Ragamuffins, Birmans, Sphynx cats, Maine Coons, and Norwegian Forest cats. These cats tend to be less active and have big appetites.
Though Lily may have been the subject of a funny misunderstanding, her story serves as a reminder of the importance of managing pets’ weight—for both their health and their dignity.
