MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A resilient kitten with a wobbly gait but an unshakable spirit has found her happily ever after—complete with a loving family and a magical first Christmas.
From Streets to Safety
The kitten, later named Katydid, was discovered struggling to survive outdoors before Nicole, a local animal rescuer, spent days carefully earning her trust. With help from Pet Haven MN, the roughly 12-week-old feline was placed in foster care, where she quickly blossomed.
Initially fearful, Katydid soon realized she was safe—her apprehension melting away as she embraced her new life as an indoor cat. “After eating, she played for hours, which was amazing to see,” said Kris Kaiser, a volunteer with the rescue and advocate for cats with special needs.
A Kitten with Extra “Bounce”
Katydid has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), a congenital condition affecting balance and coordination. “She’s mildly affected, so she gets around well but has a bit more hop and bounce to her run,” Kaiser explained.
Despite her wobbles, Katydid’s energy was boundless. Kaiser began bringing her to work, where she charmed coworkers with her playful antics. “All she does all day is play, purr, nap, and distract the workers,” Kaiser laughed.
The kitten delighted in toys—plastic springs, plush mice, climbing towers—and would “bite them all before choosing a favorite.” Within days, the once-feral cat transformed into a cuddly companion, chirping greetings and rolling over for belly rubs.
A Family of Her Own
After weeks in foster care, Katydid—now named CC (Cecilia)—met her forever mom, Taylor, and her new siblings: feline brothers Ed and Otis, and Dory, a golden retriever.
“She settled in immediately, exploring and playing,” Taylor said. Dory, smitten with the tiny newcomer, became her protector and playmate.
A Christmas Dream Come True
CC’s first Christmas was nothing short of magical. She inspected every gift under the tree, tested decorations for feline approval, and basked in the warmth of her new family.
From a lonely life on the streets to a home filled with love, toys, and devoted siblings, CC’s journey came full circle—proving that even the wobbliest of kittens can land on their feet.
