Yolo County, CA — What began as a rescue mission for two fragile orphaned kittens turned into a heartwarming tale of friendship when a lonely ginger tabby joined their crew, creating an inseparable trio.
A Fight for Survival
Button and Truffle, twin white kittens, were just three weeks old when they were found abandoned without their mother. Angela, a dedicated foster volunteer with Yolo SPCA, took them in, providing round-the-clock care. The kittens struggled with stomach issues, requiring tube-feeding and constant monitoring.
“Even when they weren’t feeling well, they’d still purr and meow for attention,” Angela told Love Meow. After days of sleepless nights, the twins regained their strength, mastering litter-box use and finding comfort in each other’s cuddles.
A New Brother Joins the Family
Just as Button and Truffle flourished, Angela learned about Abraxos, a ginger tabby orphaned at just three days old. Hand-reared by humans, he craved feline companionship. “He needed friends his age to play with—and to teach him how to be a cat,” Angela said.
The introduction was rocky at first. “There were hisses and puffed-up tails,” Angela recalled. But by morning, the tension melted away. The trio woke up playing like lifelong friends.
An Instant Connection
Abraxos quickly bonded with the twins, snuggling with them and even grooming their faces. Button, the more adventurous of the pair, became Abraxos’ playful mentor, while Truffle—slightly smaller—preferred to observe before joining in.
“They match each other’s energy perfectly,” Angela said. The trio’s favorite pastime? Squeezing into the tiniest box they could find for a group nap.
A Happy Ending
Once orphaned and vulnerable, the three kittens now thrive together. “It’s heartwarming to see them as best friends,” Angela said. For Abraxos, the twins filled a void—and for Button and Truffle, their family grew by one.
As they continue to grow, their bond serves as a reminder of resilience, second chances, and the power of companionship.
