Montreal, QC – When Bottine, a playful kitten whose name means “boot” in French, arrived at Chatons Orphelins Montreal, she faced challenges from the start. Born with three malformed legs—both front paws and one hind leg curved inward—she could have been seen as fragile. But from day one, Bottine refused to let her differences slow her down.
A Determined Spirit
X-rays revealed that Bottine’s radius bones were underdeveloped, and one hind leg was bent. Yet, the resilient kitten quickly adapted, using her front legs to pull herself forward and navigating her surroundings with surprising ease.
“She’s in no pain and moves around effortlessly,” the rescue shared. “She climbs onto couches, beds, and cat trees all by herself—nothing stops her.”
A Loving, Playful Companion
In foster care, Bottine blossomed into an affectionate and mischievous cat. She adores snuggling in the crook of her foster mom’s neck, perching on shoulders, or curling up in sweatshirt hoods.
“She loves everyone—humans, cats, dogs, even bunnies,” her foster family said. “As soon as she sees us, she comes running, eager for cuddles. She follows us everywhere and isn’t shy about asking for attention.”
Despite her unique mobility, Bottine plays with the same energy as any kitten, pouncing on toys and even mastering stairs. She uses a low-entry litter box and pee pads without issue, proving her adaptability.
A Joyful Influence
Bottine’s sweet nature has also brought comfort to other animals in the home. She often joins older cats by the window, keeping them company as they bask in the sun.
“Every evening, she climbs into bed with us, purring loudly,” her foster family shared. “She’s incredibly affectionate and loves being close at all times.”
Since her rescue, Bottine’s legs have grown stronger with proper nutrition and care. Her story is a testament to resilience—and a reminder that differences don’t define happiness.
