A mischievous cat in Thailand captured the internet’s attention after being “arrested” for attacking police officers at a Bangkok police station, where it had been brought after being found wandering.
On May 9, Bangkok police officer Da Parinda Pakeesuk shared the amusing encounter on social media. A citizen had turned in the lost American Shorthair, and Officer Pakeesuk welcomed the feline with care. However, the cat, dressed in a pink harness, soon showed her fiery side by scratching and biting several officers on duty.
“This cat has been charged with assaulting police officers and is about to be detained. Please share this post so her owner can come and bail her out,” Pakeesuk joked online.
That night, Pakeesuk took the cat home, posting a photo of her sitting in his car. One commenter noted the cat looked unimpressed, saying, “She does not seem too grateful for her rescue.” Another added, “Hey kitty, without this officer, you would be homeless right now!”
Pakeesuk, a known animal lover who has rescued 20 stray cats and six dogs, had prepared food, litter, and toys for the surprise guest. “She is living her best life, while the police are the true victims,” he joked.
Though many online users offered to adopt the cat, Pakeesuk stressed that finding her original owner was the top priority. “If you really love cats, consider adopting one of the many strays at my home or from a shelter,” he said.
The cat’s owner contacted the station the next day. According to Thai news outlet Khaosod English, the cat is named Nub Tang, which means “counting money.” Her owner dressed her in a lace collar for her return visit to the station.
To mark the occasion, Pakeesuk drafted a playful police report in Nub Tang’s voice: “I was just hungry. I did not mean to bite anyone.” The cat “signed” it with two paw prints and posed for a mugshot.
Pakeesuk issued a verbal warning and handed her back to her owner without a fine, saying with a smile, “This case must be handled properly. We can’t have other cats thinking that biting people is okay.”
The story quickly went viral, with one user calling it “the cutest crime I have ever seen.” Another added, “This officer is both kind and humorous.”
A third joked, “I showed this case to my two cats. Hopefully, they’ll take it as a warning not to scratch my sofa or chew my computer cables.”
