A café chain in Japan is bridging the gap between pet and owner mealtime with a unique new product that allows cats and humans to safely share snacks.
Neco Republic, a combination cat café and rescue organization, has introduced Neco Meshi, a line of treats designed to be safely consumed by both people and their feline companions. The snacks are free from salt and artificial additives, making them a healthier option for pets and suitable for curious cat lovers.
Offered in a variety of seafood flavors popular in Japan—such as smoked bonito and blue sprat anchovies—Neco Meshi is already gaining attention. According to a review by RocketNews24, reporter Sachi sampled the treats with her cat and found them surprisingly tasty. She praised the smoked bonito as a flavorful, enjoyable bite. Her cat approved of most flavors, though sardines were less popular—something the reporter noted was typical for her pet.
Despite the mixed feline review, Sachi called the sardines “some of the tastiest dried sardines I’ve had in a long time.”
Neco Republic’s innovative concept addresses a common temptation among pet owners: sharing meals with their animals. Experts warn against feeding pets human food, as many ingredients can be harmful. By creating a safe, shared snack, the café offers a new way for people to bond with their cats—without putting their health at risk.
