A shelter cat who was returned twice has finally found a loving forever home, winning hearts online.
Allison (@bubblymoment) from Indiana told Newsweek her family was heartbroken after losing their beloved cat. They wanted to adopt again but were disappointed when the kitten they liked was no longer available.
By chance, Allison’s daughter was scheduled to read to animals at a local shelter—a program that comforts animals and helps children practice reading. There, they met Miss Honey, a gray and white tabby who looked like Allison’s first college cat.
“She immediately rubbed against us and cuddled up to my daughter while she read,” Allison said. “I knew I had to call my husband. He told me we needed to adopt her.” At that time, Miss Honey was still being evaluated and not officially up for adoption.
The shelter was closed that Monday, so the family returned the next day. They learned Miss Honey had already been through two homes. She was first returned because she didn’t get along with another cat. The reason for her second return was unclear.
Despite her difficult start, Miss Honey quickly adapted to her new home. A TikTok video showing her purring and rubbing against Allison went viral, earning 1.7 million likes and 8.1 million views.
“We are so blessed to be her forever family,” Allison said. “She is sweet like honey and helps heal the heartbreak from losing our other cats. She gets along well with our kids and dogs and fits right in. She’s just loving life!”
Though shy at first, Miss Honey blossomed after a few days. “Every night she jumps into bed and snuggles with my husband and me, purring loudly. It’s the cutest thing ever,” Allison added.
TikTok users loved her affectionate nature. One commented, “She has her turbo purrs activated, trying to purr as loud as possible!” Another joked, “She’s contacting the mothership.” Others explained that her “trilling”—a mix of meow and purr—is a sign of deep affection.
