A viral TikTok video showing a black cat swatting her sedated sibling has amused thousands of viewers online. The clip, posted by Michigan-based user @marissanicoleeeee, has gained over 527,500 views and more than 122,000 likes.
The video captures Peach, a black cat, sitting beside her sibling—a Siamese rescue cat—who had just returned home after being sedated, likely following a veterinary procedure. As the Siamese cat, still groggy and unsteady, tries to approach Peach, she quickly swats him with her paw, sending him to the floor. The overlay text on the video reads: “She took full advantage of him,” while the caption refers to him as “my poor sensitive boy.”
The owner revealed in the comments that the Siamese cat had lived on the streets for three years before being rescued. Despite his rough past, she described him as “seriously the sweetest cat I’ve ever had.”
Although many viewers found the interaction funny, some pointed out that Peach may have reacted to her sibling’s altered scent or behavior after sedation. “Poor baby smells different [and] black kitty isn’t sure why sibling smells/ is acting weird,” one comment read.
Veterinary expert Dr. Deepak Shukla, founder of Vets Let’s Travel, told Newsweek that such reactions are normal. “Cats often feel groggy or disoriented after sedation. They might wobble, sleep more, or avoid food temporarily. Keep them warm, limit noise, and offer water gently. Patience is key,” he said. He also advised contacting a vet if the cat remains lethargic or refuses food for more than 24 hours.
While it is unclear why the Siamese cat was sedated, common reasons include surgical procedures. According to VCA Animal Hospital, cats recovering from surgery should rest in a quiet, warm room, avoid strenuous activity, and eat small portions to reduce nausea. Full recovery from anesthesia may take up to 48 hours.
The video sparked nearly 180 comments, with viewers sharing their reactions. One user joked, “Not the hit and run,” referring to Peach casually walking away after the swat. Another said, “The fact the black kitty BARELY tapped him is sending me,” to which the owner replied, “He really is just a sensitive lil man. Peach barely tapped him.”
Although Peach’s behavior may appear harsh, experts say such interactions are often a natural part of feline behavior, especially when one cat is acting unusually.
