A video of an affectionate cat inching his way into his owner’s arms has gone viral on TikTok, with over 4 million views and counting.
The clip, posted by @the_three_italian_cats, features Lucciano, a ginger cat, slowly creeping across a sofa toward his owner. He eventually rests his head beneath her chin, melting into a soft embrace. Text over the video reads: “My cat is addicted to cuddling and this was our third cuddle in less than 30 minutes. He thinks that if he moves slow enough, I won’t notice him.”
The video, which has received more than 585,000 likes, has touched viewers around the world. It also caught the attention of Newsweek, which spoke with clinical psychologist Dr. Catherine Wikholm about the emotional impact of feline affection.
“Cuddling a cat can reduce stress and anxiety, bring comfort, and promote emotional wellbeing,” Wikholm said. She explained that the physical closeness of pets helps calm the mind by lowering cortisol levels and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This helps people relax and feel safe.
Wikholm, who practices in Kent, England, added that petting or cuddling a cat also releases endorphins, oxytocin, and serotonin—chemicals linked to happiness and bonding. It’s no wonder Lucciano’s owner welcomed a third cuddle in just 30 minutes.
The video’s comments section reveals how special such a bond can be, especially since not all cats are openly affectionate. One user joked, “Stealth mode activated,” while another pointed out, “Y’all with cuddly cats don’t realize how rich you are,” a comment that earned over 91,000 likes.
Others shared their experiences with less affectionate felines. “My cat sits on me about once every two months and if I breathe wrong, she goes,” one wrote. Another said, “Don’t take your cuddly cats for granted!”
Some noted how intense cat cuddles can get. One person wrote: “Try having a cuddly cat who comes to you on the toilet and lays on your lap the entire time—no boundaries.” Another shared: “My fur baby does this 4-5 times a day. She also demands to be let into my room at night and leads me to bed. Honestly, I take it as a win since she used to be so scared.”
Whether it’s rare or routine, Lucciano’s loving sneak onto his owner’s lap is a reminder of the simple joy pets can bring—one cuddle at a time.
