A cat owner was left baffled after discovering two kittens in her home—despite living only with two neutered male cats.
Amy, known as @amys_vlog777 on TikTok, shared the puzzling moment in a video posted on May 5. The video quickly went viral, racking up over 12.2 million views and sparking thousands of comments from equally confused viewers.
With no female cats in her household, Amy couldn’t understand how the kittens got there. One kitten had black fur, similar to her cats, while the other was orange and stayed curled in a corner. The black kitten roamed the house curiously. Meanwhile, Amy’s own cats stared at her in silence, meowing as if just as surprised.
In the comments, viewers offered humorous theories. One joked, “They used a surrogate,” while another claimed, “Too many hairballs stuck together—kitten formed.” A third referred to the popular online joke known as the “cat distribution system,” suggesting cats simply arrive where they’re needed. Others congratulated the cats as “stepdads.”
But the mystery didn’t last long. Amy later posted a follow-up revealing the real source of the surprise guests. Her neighbor had an unspayed female cat who recently had a litter of kittens. Unaware of the kittens, Amy was stunned when two of them wandered into her home. The neighbor told her the kittens were about four weeks old.
Amy eventually returned the kittens, but they made repeat visits. In one clip, she said, “I actually watched them walk over one time. I’m not sure if they were following my cats or their mother.”
In the final update, Amy confirmed the neighbor found homes for all the kittens and the mother cat.
