Cats Protection Tain and District is appealing for local volunteers to become indoor fosterers to help care for unwanted and abandoned cats. The fosterers would provide short-term shelter in a spare room of their home until the cats can be adopted into permanent homes.
Fostering is a hands-on role that offers temporary care to cats in a quiet, furnished-free room. The branch, which is run entirely by volunteers, provides all necessary supplies and ongoing support.
“Cat fosterers play a vital role in our charity by caring for cats in their own home until a new owner can be found,” said branch coordinator Jean Jardine. “No special equipment is needed, just a spare room and a love of cats. It’s a rewarding way to help, and a great opportunity to meet new friends—both human and feline!”
The charity is also seeking a new administration team leader, following a recent retirement. This role involves handling meeting agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring the smooth running of administrative tasks.
Cats Protection is the UK’s largest feline welfare charity. In 2024, it helped around 191,000 cats and kittens—an average of 525 every day.
In addition to rehoming efforts, the charity provides advice on cat care and offers financial assistance for neutering when needed.Anyone interested in fostering or volunteering can contact the Tain and District branch for more information.
