A heartwarming initiative called “Jersey’s Hopeful Journey” in Marana, Arizona, has successfully found forever homes for dozens of dogs and cats. The adoption drive, organized by local animal shelter “Paws of Marana,” aimed to relocate rescue animals from overcrowded shelters in Jersey (Channel Islands) to Arizona, where they connected with loving families.
The project, launched last month, transported 42 animals—including 27 dogs and 15 cats—across the Atlantic. Among the adoptees were Jersey, a three-year-old border collie mix who became the face of the campaign, and Whiskers, a senior cat who found a home with a retired couple. “Seeing these animals thrive in their new homes is incredible,” said shelter director Lisa Rodriguez. “Jersey’s story showed how a little hope can change everything.”
Local volunteers and veterinarians ensured the animals received health checks and behavioral assessments before adoption. The event drew hundreds of visitors, with 38 animals adopted on the first day alone. “We never expected such a turnout,” Rodriguez added. “It proves there’s the right home for every animal, no matter their background.”
The success of “Jersey’s Hopeful Journey” has inspired plans for future cross-border rescue initiatives. Paws of Marana now encourages the public to support ongoing shelter operations through donations or volunteering. “This isn’t just about adoption—it’s about building a community that values every life,” Rodriguez said.
